Boise top 10 "Safest City in America"

BOISE -- A new report by Business Insider ranks Boise as one of the safest cities in America. 

Boise Chief of Police Mike Masterson says it's thanks to community partners, neighborhood and business associations and hard work by dedicated police employees that help make Boise one of the safest cities in America.

Boise is listed at number seven on the top 20 list of safe cities, a list based on FBI crime data, and is noted for a murder rate of 90 percent below average, rape rate is 60 percent below average and a robbery rate of 73 percent below average for cities with populations over 20,000 in 2012. 

Irvine, California came in at number one with a murder rate of 80 percent below average, rape rate at 86 percent below average and a robbery rate of 86 percent below average.
