The skyline of the Boise Valley is changing. Yesterday's groundbreaking ceremony for the 8th and Main Project was a momentous occasion. The Zion's Tower is a $76 million dollar investment, bringing 18 floors of office and retail space into downtown Boise. The building will become the tallest in Idaho at 270 feet, 3 feet taller than the U.S. Bank building. Cranes are moving, construction workers will be employed, and Boise is celebrating that a building will finally replace the "hole" that has been on the corner of 8th and Main for fifteen years. Mayor Dave Bieter (City of Boise) ended his speech at the groundbreaking with enthusiasm, telling the Gardner Company and Zion's Bank to “Please start filling this hole!”
The Gardner Company brings a new level of confidence to the 8th and Main project. This company has a strong history of development success as evidenced by the Portico Project in Meridian, ID, the Gateway Project in Salt Lake, City and many others.
The new building will be a headquarter for Zion's Bank. Toni Nielsen, W. Idaho Region President for Zions Bank, said, "Today marks the culmination of the work we've been doing in Idaho for the past 15 years. We have more than 300 talented and dedicated employees who have helped us grow into the third largest bank in the state by deposits. the future of Zions Bank in Idaho is bright..."
Other projects like Whole Foods and the Jump Project are also bringing significant investment to downtown Boise. Growth is being seen in all the cities across the Valley as the housing market is improving, retail activity is increasing, and project activity is strong at the Boise Valley Economic Partnership.
