Team Idaho Takes on SEMICON West Conference

BVEP and Onondaga County, N.Y. – the county supporting Micron’s NY expansion project – recently traveled to San Francisco to attend the SEMICON West conference and meet with potential Micron vendors and suppliers. The three-day long effort kicked off on July 10 where BVEP and Onondaga County partnered with Micron to host a reception for some of their potential suppliers during the opening night of the SEMICON West conference. Over 135 representatives from Idaho, including more than 70 suppliers, got the opportunity to chat with prospective vendors on expanding or co-locating in the Boise Metro or in Idaho. Boise Mayor Lauren McLean, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon, and Micron VP of Front End Expansion, Scott Gatzemeier, all made opening remarks. They welcomed the vendors to the event and, hopefully, to their communities down the road, while thanking them for their potential partnerships supporting Micron.

These potential companies showed early interest in co-location, investment or operational expansion in the U.S. and experienced a valuable platform for networking and collaboration with BVEP partners including Alder Industrial, Ball Ventures Ahlquist, LDK Ventures, the City of Boise, the City of Nampa, Lincoln Property Company, Colliers, Sawtooth Development Group, Stark Accelerators, TOK Commercial and Idaho Commerce.

Finally, the BVEP team and its partners held productive one-on-one meetings with more than 13 companies, sharing detailed opportunities within Boise and highlighting how the city aligns with their operational objectives. The reception showcased Boise’s appeal as a destination for business growth and the chance to partner with a world leader in innovative memory solutions.
